An unwavering peace - Romans 5:1.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1

We have peace with God

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh holy and awesome God, our joy is made great in our renewed relationship with you. What peace we have been gifted. A peace with the ultimate power of the universe. A peace with God our Father.

But forgive us, Lord, for we are so quick to doubt your great works. We look at our lives and see our unworthiness and rebellion and cannot fathom how we could truly have peace with you. How could the pure and perfect sustainer of the universe be at peace with broken humans like ourselves? Our expressions of weakness and sinfulness so often make us question that gift of peace with you.

But again, forgive our foolish hearts. For though we are right by our own doing, peace with you would be impossible. It is not by our doing that this peace came about.

It is 'through our Lord Jesus Christ' that we have peace with God. Through his death and resurrection, we have died to our sins. We have been washed clean. All God's wrath the should have been poured out on us was instead placed on Christ's shoulders.

He set us free from the punishment we deserve. Not only that, but he rose and united us with Himself. We are now one with Christ. Not only free from our past sins but carrying Christ's perfect record for the rest of our lives.

The peace we have with God was not earned by our own feeble efforts; it was bought by the blood of Christ. And his death paid the price for all of our sins, past, present, and future.

There is nothing we can do that will separate us from the love of God.

There is nothing we can do to separate ourselves from the peace we have with God. This peace was bought by Him.

It is my new identity in Christ which makes the impossible possible.

It is my new identity in Christ that brings me unwavering peace with God.

Amen

P.S. - To all those reading this, take heart, let not your hearts be discouraged. I hope some of this has been an encouragement to you.

Love and prayers,

Joshua
