Our eternal reality - John 3:16.

'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' - John 3:16
If we believe in the power of
Christ's death and resurrection
we can have eternal life.
There are so many reasons this can bring us peace. The one on my mind this morning is that we can be confident that we will have eternal life.
So often I feel like everything is going wrong or I think that lots of really bad things will happen if I don't do something.
But those feeling and thoughts don't need to have any power over us. Those thoughts and feelings don't accurately reflect our reality. They forget the big picture. We have eternal life. No matter what is going wrong, no matter what bad things happen to us, we are going to spend the rest of eternity in a perfect new creation with God.
We can let go of so many of our fears and anxious thoughts because they are just feelings and thoughts. They are so often not based on reality or do not take into account our eternal future.
I think this verse has such power to bring us peace. It allows us to let go of our misguided thoughts and feelings. And it helps us to focus our minds back on reality. It gives words to what our future actually looks like and reminds us that as our future depends on Christ not on our actions.
We have eternal life through Christ. We don't need to let our worries overwhelm us, we can take them to our Father who cares for us and let him remind us of the wonderful future he has bought for us.
Father strengthen our hearts and minds to remember that you have bought us eternal life through the death of your son. Help us not to get distracted by our thoughts and feelings that might make us think and feel like everything is falling apart. Help us to hold fast to the peace and joy that comes from your good promises. Though your infinite power and grace please use our misguided thoughts and feelings to strengthen our peace with you.
Amen.
P.S. - Thank you so much for reading this, I hope it helps grow your peace in God.
Love and prayers,
Joshua
